Overnight Encampment

September 12 @ 3:30 pm - September 13 @ 8:30 am
$100

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Battleship Missouri Overnight Encampment is designed to foster an understanding of history, leadership and team building among the youth of Hawaii, the United States, and the World. Just like real sailors, youth groups can sample “life at sea” with an overnight encampment experience aboard the Battleship Missouri.  Campers walk the decks of this historic battleship, sleep in the crew berthing areas, eat Navy-style meals on the ship’s mess deck as well as participating in onboard activities focused on  communication and teamwork.

LIFE AT SEA

Participants will experience the life of a battleship sailor through a series of tours and activities during their overnight stay. Eating in the enlisted crew’s mess and sleeping in the enlisted crew bunks gives scoutss and adults a better understanding of what it is like to live and work in the U.S. Navy.

HANDS-ON HISTORY

Scouts will be introduced to the unique history of the Battleship Missouri while visiting fun and exciting locations throughout the ship. They will learn how the Mighty Mo transformed through the three eras in which she served: WWII, the Korean War, and the First Persian Gulf War. The evening concludes on the Surrender Deck, the site of the Surrender of Japan which formally ended WWII.
